During Civics period or you may call it assembly is actually very funny but at the same time very embarrassing. The school actually invited a lady from MINDEF and officers from SAF to give a talk. At first, it just a very informative talk by that lady. The talk is actually quite long but got a lot of things that I take note of for my brother who is going to NS in a few years time.
The funny and embarrassing part came during the Q&A session. The first who ask the question during this session is my friend. She ask about the requirement for becoming a pilot. Guess what the officer from SAF answered. He ask her "How tall are you?" Immediately everyone started laughing because my friend is not very short but it just that she may only reached to about 1.6m that all. Later, the officer said that in order to be a pilot you need to be at least 1.62m, and your degree of eyesight should not exceed 500 in order to qualify for it.
After that, many students started to pick up the courage and ask a lot of questions. Some of the questions are rather very embarrassing. There is a student who ask about posting and after the officer finished answering the question, the student ask"Can we call our girlfriends?"
When I heard that, I nearly fainted. My friend say the guests may think that the students her ask some no substance questions. Some questions about gays also being ask during this session. There is also a student who ask how many chin-ups can the officer do.
Enough for that. I very happy because today the econs students got released earlier because our econs tutor not able to make it back to the college on time. Of course, some of them went to the libraria to study because they still got lesson after econs. But I got no lesson, econs is the last period of the day. So, I get to go home earlier to study. Mind you, really really study.
